Body and paint

This 356 was sold new in California in 1962 and stayed there its whole life. Due the dry climate the body is well preserved.
Very little rust and nothing structural.
Batterybox is patched (should be replaced)
Right door has few bubbles
Front fender Left and Right have the very common starting rust in de lower section

The body is straight and hood and rear decklid are matching numbers to the vin. Doors I did not check on numbers.
Floors are original and solid. Only some dents.

No signs of any major accident. The left front fender is repaired once. A little dent is “repaired” with bondo. Easy to repair.

Somewhere in the eighties they have changed the beautiful Lago Green for the back than very populair color red. Paint is old, faded and has some chips and scratches.

The interior is done in the nineties. One seat is teared. Doorcards are very nice. The whole interior is “used” and certainly not perfect but presentable. Very nice steering wheel with the sought after horn ring. All gauges are in good working order.

The convertible top is as good as new.

The car is has been brought back to life in 10-2017
Tank is replaced
Cleaned the fuel lines
Brakes are cleaned and repaired/revised

The matching numbers engine runs good and has been rebuilt somewhere in its life. Some old records shows that it was regularly serviced. Good power, no excessive oil leaking and no smoking.

The matching numbers 4 speed gearbox shifts easily in every gear without grinding or other noises.

This 356 can be driven as is or a perfect base for a concours restoration. The fact that it is matching, rare color combo and last but least that it is a convertible makes it high potential.
