There are dozens of (over) restored 190 SL’s in the world. The ones who are never restored are most of the times in need of a total restoration. Renes Collectables found a 190SL which is 100% untouched and not in need of any repair or (partial) restoration. Just enjoy driving it or keep in a collection. Unique on todays market!

History:
This 190 SL was sold new in California in June 1961. The first owner in the service book was Mr. Dr. I.H. Wagman. He sold it in september 1963 to a colleague. Mr. Dr. F. Brown. (Dentist) He kept it ever since. He moved all over the USA. Even to Hawaii! The 190SL always moved with him. All documented by a stack of servicerecords.

Condition

Body:
The preservation of the body is amazing. Absolutely all original panels and never welded. The gaps and panelfittings are like it came out the factory.

Paint:
One of the unique points of this 190SL is that it still wears its original paint. So never repainted in nearly 57 years! Of course it has some flaws and some minor touch ups. But overall very nice paint with quite a deep gloss. The hardtop is ordered from factory in a darker color. That color has some sun damage as in some faded spots. Two 57 years old original Mercedes “Lackstifts” are still with the car.

Interior:
Like the rest of the car the interior is never restored, replaced or what so ever. The seats really show their age. Some minor rips and tears but absolutely beautiful patina. Doorcards, dash, rubber mats and even the carpet are in a very good condition,
The gauges are like new. Clear glass and all in perfect working condition. Also the original Becker radio is still in the car.

Technical:
Most of the barn- or garage finds are technical in a very poor condition. Caused due “parking” damage and a lack of maintenance. This SL is recently major serviced. From carburetor (Solex) revision till new Vredestein tires. They gone through the whole car. An invoice of app. 20.000 USD approves this. The engine runs beautiful, starts right up and does not smoke or leak fluids. Also the gearbox is in a perfect working order. Also the engine bay is completely original. Nothing powder coated, polished or optical restored.

Chrome:
If there is one little negative point of this SL is the chrome. It is presentable but it shows its age. Some minor pitting on the bumpers and other chrome parts. Please leave it as is! A car is only original once.

This 190SL has a documented history since new.
