Porsche 912 SWB - 1968
This 912 is quite a rare find. Not only because of the fantastic original condition of this 912 but also because of the story around it.
The car was delivered new in Huntington Beach California to Mr Kay Abegg. The dealer was Aero Volkswagen Inglewood California.
After a few years he sold it to Bob.
Bob was an old Airplane Pilot and loved German cars. In the year 2000 he was planning to sell his VW Beetle and this 912. This because of his age.
I was on holiday in California that summer. My dad his friend told us about Bob and his wife. We were curious and drove with our rental to Hemet. I was only 17 years old so I was the co-driver.
When we arrived we found this stunning 912 and bought it in 5 minutes. Because I was almost 18 my dad gave me the VW Beetle as a present for my coming birthday. I still have it!
So we bought Bob his both cars. He was 85 back than.
After one year or so my dad sold the 912 because he barely used it. Now I found out it was on the market again I bought direct. It has a little more patina but still one of the better 912’s I have seen!
This 912 was delivered new in the very nice color Hell Elfenbein.
Only once repainted. Very good, thin paintwork. Absolute all original panels, no rust and never crashed.
The black original interior is still in a perfect original condition. Only the seats are replaced for sport seats. I trying to find the original seats though.
The matching numbers engine has only 152000Km. (95.000MLS) and was partial revised once. The 4 speed gearbox is shifting very smooth and the clutch goes light and smooth.
This very 912 was delivered with some nice options:
Chrome steel wheels.
Wheel covers with Porsche crest in color.
Wooden steering wheel.
Blaupunkt Radio Frankfurt.
Speaker and Antenna.
Tinted glass all around.
After almost 50 years…. It is all still there!...
